Baan Sandao condo review

Centrally located condo in Hua Hin. Just in front of big shopping center Villa Market. We have stayed in this condo for 2 months. 1 month in a 2 bedroom and 1 month in 3 bedroom. Both rented from same company. (other recommended real estate agencies in Hua Hin)

The building consist of 5 sectors: ABCDE

A building is 1 apartment per floor with 3-4 bedrooms. (but i never saw this for rent)

BCD buildings are 5 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartments per floor.

E building has 1-3 bedrooms apartments.

Recommendations:

Do not stay in first floor. As going from street or building E you go through the middle of first floor.

Try renting North facing apartments as they have direct sunlight in the morning only.

December 1st to January 15th there is a loud concert in Village Market shopping centre and this you hear even in Building B (north side) which is closest to the sea. Building E additionally hears the noise from the street and traffic

My general recommendation is that Baan Sanpluen which is very similiar to Baan Sandao is a better choice because of the noise. (Baan sandao has 2 empty plots in both sides of building and baan sanpluen has other 2 condos which reduces the noise)

Address for mailing of the condo is: (google give different address)

Twin Peaks condo Chiang Mai

The best centrally located condo in Chiang Mai (2015)

Recommendation: do not rent 2d floor, as some of the apartments have limited view windows. The Swimming pool and the gym is on the third floor.

Owner wanted to rent for 3-6 months at 37k THB, and 6-12 months for 35k THB, we convinced us to rent this for 1 month at 40k THB + electricity and water.

Rented from Chiang Mai Properties

Best coffee and breakfast in Chiang Mai with kids

Ketawa hotel. Probably the best place to have breakfast with children. Plenty of space. No direct sunshine. Perfect food and coffee. Decent internet connection

Cup for You. Good place with children to have lunch. The breakfast menu is so poor.. Tasty coffee. Internet connection: couldn’t log in.

In front of this cafe is best grocery store in Chiang Mai: RiplingIMG_9038 IMG_9041 IMG_9043 IMG_9044

Other good places:

Fahtara coffee

Raming Tea House

Nakara Jardin afternoon tea and desert

Do NOT recommend

Rustic and Blue. Even though they have nice outdoor space which is good for children and have been nicely reviewed, the food is a mix of everything. Seems like they put in your dish main ingredient (for example eggs Benedict)  + everything they have in the fridge.

Aetas Lumpini Hotel Bangkok

Cheapest 5 star hotel in Bangkok.

Great location: walking distance to the park, short drive to motordrive to the DMK and BKK airports

Rate 65 euros for triple room with breakfast.

I also have stayed in Aetas Bangkok where i have got even better price of 57 euros per night for double room with breakfast.

This hotel is very similiar to Aetas Lumpini, just have one feature: free tuktuk (shuttle) to metro line

Chiang Mai

The first impression about Chiang Mai was negative. Traffic, pollution, no parks in walking distance, non pedestrian zones, especially bad pavements for baby strollers.

And after one week, my opinion has changed drastically. It has all the cities amenities as well you feel as in village, where you know your neighbours and meet same people in town . Recommended videos for Chiang Mai:

Recommended things to do:

Chiang Mai Zoo. The best zoo ever. (Second best in Norway) Tip: do NOT go to seaquarium it is waste of time and money;

Video blog from Chiang Mai zoo from my neighbour

Test different cafe every morning ==> Best Place with Kids in Chiang Mai

3D art museum

Nothing special:

Saturday walking street. Sunday walking street. Tip for travellers with Children: go at 17.00, later it gets crowdy

Nong Buak Hard Public Park. Tiny park in the left bottom corner of old town. Nothing special, unless you see this:

What we have left for another visit: Chiang Mai Canyon

Coworking places:

there are few of them, but one that is not advertised a lot and i liked it is at Maya shopping centre 4th floor.

Do NOT go to Chiang Mai on March 10th – April 10th approximately, as the burning of fields begin, and smog covers the city.

Bangkok

Bangkok
Recommended length of stay: 1 day.
Things to do:
River/canal boat tour. There are 2 to 4 hour options, but 2 hours is more than enough, if you are not willing to visit every temple and feed the fish for half an hour.
Khaosan Road (backpackers street) good thai food, cheap massage, lots of people. Cheap hotels around 30usd.
Hotels
Lebua hotel – is famous for its restaurants. (be careful many of them do not allow with children until 14years old) Dinner cost ±100 usd per person. If you are on a budget – i recommend you visiting a sky-bar and have a drink (15usd) then go eat somewhere else.
Baiyoke hotel – do not recommend. Tallest building in Thailand, but the hotel is less than average 3*
Taxi
do not ride TukTuk, unless for an attraction, because they are rather expensive at the end..
taxi is cheap in Bangkok and you should always pay what is written on the meter. Never negotiate with taxi driver (only tourists negotiate) just sit in and drive, at the end you pay what the meter says.

Hua Hin longstay / Thailand

Best place to long stay in Thailand is HUA Hin. (Probably best play to long stay in Asia)
(see photos at the buttom)
Recommendations:
First days visit Thai Cooking course  – enyoyed it. You understand basic Thai kitchen and understand what you eat.
Ocean Club (Putahracsa hotel) (North Hua Hin) best restaurant Hua Hin
CICADA Market – The market is opened Friday to Sunday, but i recommend visiting it on Sunday, because other two days it is too crowdy. You can have a dinner here also. (Next to Hyatt hotel. BTW, Hyatt hotel food is average)
Le Bistro – french restaurant – do NOT recommend. (even though it has high rankings on tripadvisor)
Next to this french restaurant there is  DEYA DELI recommend (located in Villa Market shopping center, which is quite expensive, but you can find a lot of european food there. One thing that i regret buying from them was Wagyu beef stake 1000THB a piece)
Restaurant Lets See – Khao Takiab, good place to have a drink and eat non-fish dishes.
The views for first timers in Asia can be shocking. Buy majority of seafood is delivered to Bangkok from here
Eat/Taste:
Green Papaya salad – ask to make it not spicy (in Phuket, Pataya they make it not spicy). (Mai Phet) 30THB in the street and 200-300 THB in restaurant. Also i believe they bring it from the street  to the restaurant with a 1000% margin 🙂
as kiekviena diena valgau sita patiekala.
Chicken Cashwenut  (Kau pat, mi mimong)
Mango StickyRice
Pad Thai (Thai noodles with chicken, shrimps or vegetables)
Watch Muay Thai competition
Boxing Garden Arena (20/23 Poonsuk Road, few hundred meters from Hilton hotel) every tuesday and saturday from 21.00. Cost around 350 THB
in same center also you can hire a personal Muay Thai trainer – highly recommend. Best cardio training
National park – 20km south of Hua Hin.
It is more confortable to go with sneakers and not flip-flops as you have to do a little climbing. Also recommend going with motorbike and not taking a guided tour.
Rent of motorbike 3000-4000 THB a month.

Transfer from BKK airport to Hua Hin 2000-3000 THB
Bangkok hospital – highly recommend. Best hospital i have ever seen compared to Germany and USA private hospitals.
General checkup costs ±100 usd.
Has all the latest equipment.
Cha-Am – not recommend. Phuket, Pataya – don’t go 🙂
